LeadLayer
For residential trades

Missed calls
are missed revenue.

Every missed call gets a text in seconds. LeadLayer talks to the homeowner, qualifies the job, books the estimate, and texts you when it's hot. You wake up to confirmed work, not a list of voicemails to chase down.

Most leads aren't lost. They were never picked up.

A homeowner with a leaking roof calls three contractors at 9pm Tuesday. The first one to call back gets the job. You were on a ladder. You'll call back tomorrow. By then it's done.

Voicemail doesn't qualify. Forwarded calls to your cell don't help when you're hands-deep in an HVAC unit. An answering service takes a name and a number. LeadLayer talks to the lead. Gets the address, the urgency, the budget. Texts you when it's hot.

How it works

One number, one chat widget, one inbox.

You don't change how you run your business. LeadLayer sits between your phone and your website and catches what would have been lost.

When the phone rings

7:42pm. You're on a panel.

Your phone rings. You can't pick up. Within two rings, LeadLayer picks up on your dedicated business line. The AI asks the homeowner what's going on. Burst pipe. Address. Urgency. By the time you climb down, you have a text: hot lead, ready to schedule. You call back from your own number when you're off the ladder.

Your existing cell stays private. The new line is the one you advertise.

When they're on your site

11:08pm. They almost left.

A homeowner is googling roofers. They land on your site. They almost close the tab. The chat bubble pops up. They type "do you do tile repair?" instead of bouncing to the next contractor. By the time you check your phone in the morning, the AI has their name, phone, address, photos, and a yes-they're-a-homeowner confirmation. You're calling them by 8am.

One line of code. Works on Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy, WordPress, anywhere.

When you sit down with coffee

Tuesday morning. Three new leads.

You open the LeadLayer app on your phone. Three leads from overnight, top-to-bottom by how ready-to-buy they are. The first one's a reroof in your service area, $14k range. You tap Call. It dials from your own cell, so they see your real number on caller ID. Two minutes later you're scheduling the estimate.

Installs as a real app on iPhone and Android. Phone, chat, manual entry — one inbox.

Why not an answering service or CallRail?

Short version: an answering service takes a name. CallRail tracks the call. LeadLayer actually qualifies the lead and hands you a job-ready quote request.

What LeadLayer actually does

The mechanics. No magic.

What's in the product today. What it doesn't do is also worth knowing.

Texts back every missed call within 15 seconds.
Qualifies the lead by text — address, urgency, photos, scope.
Books estimates directly into your calendar.
Escalates emergencies to your phone immediately.
Works after-hours and weekends, no extra cost.
Uses your existing number for outbound. Customers see your real caller ID.
Hands off to you instantly if the AI is unsure. SMS you, you take over from your phone.
Stops texting if the homeowner asks for a call.
Installs in under 10 minutes. First lead can come the same day.
Logs every conversation. You always have the transcript when you call back.

Best for residential contractors on inbound + missed-call channels. Designed for solo operators and small crews. Not a replacement for your CRM or your phone — just stops you losing leads to voicemail.

Common questions

Things contractors ask before they sign up.

Do I have to change my phone number?

No. Your existing cell stays exactly as it is. LeadLayer gives you an additional number that you advertise (Google Business, ads, business cards). Calls to that number forward to your cell first. You always get the chance to pick up live. If you don't pick up, the AI takes over.

When you call leads back, you call from your own number. Your customers see your real caller ID and the relationship stays with you, not with us.

What if I don't have a website?

You can still use the missed-call AI and the lead inbox without a website. The chat widget is optional. Just an extra capture channel.

If you want a website, our Settings page recommends Squarespace or Wix and gives you click-by-click steps for installing the chat widget once you have one.

How does the AI actually sound? Won't customers know it's a bot?

The AI is text-first. The chat widget on your website is a real conversation, not a scripted form. For phone calls, missed calls get routed to an AI voice that handles the conversation naturally and ends by letting the customer know you'll be following up shortly.

The AI doesn't pretend to be you. It picks up because you couldn't, gets the info you'd ask for, and hands you a lead you can close.

What if the AI gets confused or asks the wrong question?

Two safety nets. First, if the AI is unsure, it hands off to you in real time. You get an SMS. You can take over the chat from your phone. Second, every conversation is logged in the lead's profile, so even if the AI was off, you have the transcript when you call back.

In practice this happens less than you'd think. The questions for a roofing or HVAC lead are pretty standard.

How long does setup take?

Under 10 minutes. Sign up, get your dedicated business number, paste a snippet on your website (or skip that part). The first lead can come in the same day.

If you already have a Google Business listing, swap your phone number for the LeadLayer one and you're live.

What happens to my existing leads / contacts?

Nothing. LeadLayer doesn't replace your phone, your texts, or your existing CRM. It just adds a new capture channel. You keep doing what you're doing, you just stop losing leads to voicemail.

Is there a contract?

No. Month-to-month. Cancel anytime. We'd rather earn your business every month than lock you in.
