SMS OPT-IN & CONSENT

How end users consent to receive SMS from LeadLayer · last updated 2026-07-08

This page documents exactly how a person opts in to receive SMS text messages from LeadLayer (operated by JAMES J KAISER JR DBA LeadLayer), and the exact consent language shown at the point of opt-in. It is publicly accessible with no login required.

The consent experience end users see

When someone starts a chat on a LeadLayer site, a pre-chat form opens. Directly above the "Start Chat" button is an SMS consent checkbox, unchecked by default, separate from any other agreement, and entirely optional. The person can start the chat and use the service without checking it — leaving it unchecked simply means we will not send them SMS. Checking it is how they opt in to receive SMS. This is a faithful reproduction of that form:

↑ The checkbox is empty (unchecked) by default and optional. The visitor can start the chat without checking it; checking it is how they opt in to SMS.
Exact consent checkbox label:
"Optional. I agree to receive SMS text messages about my service request from this business or their AI assistant. Consent is not a condition of purchase — you can start the chat without checking this. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See Privacy Policy and Terms."

How opt-in works

Opt-in is optional and happens in one place: the web chat consent checkbox shown above. On a LeadLayer site (e.g. jw.useleadlayer.com), the person may check the unchecked-by-default SMS consent box to opt in. Checking it is never required to start the chat or use the service — consent is not a condition of purchase, and a visitor can decline and still get help. No phone number is enrolled to receive SMS unless the person actively checks the box. Message frequency varies (typically 2–10 per service request); message and data rates may apply.
